Think about how your customers search for your product or service. If you’re on a sales call, listen for how the people on the other line describe you. What words or phrases do they frequently use? Those terms are terms to focus on. To find long-tail keywords (or larger phrases), simply start typing a single word on Google and watch how it auto-fills.

Next, it’s time to implement. Use keywords on your homepage, sales page, and title. Sometimes Google puts more weight on keywords at the top half of a page and early in your title. Also create a short URL’s and if it makes sense, include a keyword. But don’t overdo it. Your sentences should be natural and not so obviously crammed with keyword after keyword. Add strong keywords to headers and sprinkle them in where appropriate for maximum impact.

Build A Community

One of the best ways to boost traffic is to develop a strong community both within your site and off-platform. Enable your comments, start conversations, and build a robust presence elsewhere. Instagram and YouTube are great discovery platforms in themselves and if you can create great content while linking to your website or keeping that URL in your bio, website traffic will flow.

Chances are, if people aren’t searching on Google, they’re searching on YouTube. Because who doesn’t want a fun video over a long and dry research article to answer their question about DIY crafts or houseplants?

Email marketing is another great way to create that feeling of community, personalize your content, and remind your followers of great content or products posting to your page. Just remember not to spam your subscribers with too many emails.

Create Content (That’s Optimized)

If you’re a writer, you’ve likely heard of the WordPress plug-in, Yoast. Yoast helps you write SEO-friendly content. It checks for sentence length, your use of transition words, and other grammar tips to maximize your ranking. Also make sure to include multimedia like images, videos, charts, polls, and infographics.

Cover The Essentials

These are probably obvious to you, but for the sake of covering our bases, let’s run through them. Make sure your site is responsive, meaning it’s optimized for mobile use. If your landing page does not render properly on a user’s phone or links don’t work in front of a small screen, your SEO score will tank. Also make sure your load time is quick (no one will wait around) and always use high quality images.
